The most important room in the house - Our Kitchen

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home and I couldn't agree more.

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and I love nothing more than cooking for friends and family.

I put a lot of thought into our kitchen design, started with a list of must haves and worked around that. With the help of our architects and a few tweaks here and there I think we came up with a kitchen I will love forever.

My must haves and not negotiable's

  • ample work space
  • white double door oven (my dream)
  • not so much a Butler's Pantry but a walk in pantry that could home our coffee machine, wine fridge and an additional fridge for drinks.
  • a s%$@ load of storage
  • Concrete bench tops
  • wanted our fridge and dishwasher integrated
  • Breakfast Bar, this was important because we decided not to have a dining room. Every dining room we have had at all the houses we have lived in became a dumping ground. Very rarely did we eat at the table. Even when we entertained we always sat outside. With our outdoor dining area so close to the kitchen (see image below) it seemed like a waste.

I couldn't be happier with the end results.

Oven, exhaust fan, wine fridge all from Ilve  I will be doing a post soon about our oven. I receive alot of questions asking about it.

Splash Back tiles in both pantry and behind oven from Johnson Tiles  Fern Glazed Rustic Terra Brix. Johnson Tiles in Brisbane were so amazing and helpful with all of my tile choices.

*disclosure: I have a commercial agreement with Ilve and Johnson Tiles*
